How to create an assignment for a course lecture
Courses
Assignments let parents send you their work, such as a completed sleep log or their new bedtime routine, and you send back feedback.
Create an assignment
- Go to Assets, click Courses, then your course.
- Find the lecture, click the three dots and choose Create an assignment for this lecture.
- Fill in:
- Title: a clear name, such as Your 3-day sleep log.
- Instructions: tell parents exactly what to do.
- Assignment requirement: tick this to make the assignment required before the next lecture opens.
- Assignment status: switch the assignment on or off.
- Click Save.
A blue icon next to the lecture means the assignment is active. A grey icon means it is switched off.
Delete an assignment
Click the three dots next to the lecture, choose Edit the assignment for this lecture, then Delete and Delete assignment.
What parents do
Parents see your instructions in the lecture. They click Click to upload or drag and drop, add their file, click Submit assignment and Confirm. The assignment stays pending until you review it.
Review submissions
- In your courses, click the Assignments tab in the top menu.
- Use the filters to search by email, course, date or status. The status filter starts on Pending, so you see what still needs your review. Switch to Approved or Rejected, or clear the filter to see everything.
- The table shows each submission with its file, status, student name and email, course, module, lecture and date.
- Click the three dots, choose Download file and review it.
- Click Approve submission or Reject submission, add your personal comment, and confirm.
The parent gets an email and a notification in their student dashboard, and can read your comment on the assignment page.
