Why aren't my emails being sent?

Email deliverability

Your email is stuck on pending? There is no need to send it again. SleepPRO™ runs a few safety checks to protect everyone's deliverability, and one of these is usually the reason.

1. Checks for new accounts

New accounts send in small batches at first:

  • Your first email goes to 100 contacts.
  • Sending pauses while the first results are checked. This takes from a few minutes to six hours, depending on volume.
  • Good results: the next 100 emails go out, and the check repeats every 100 emails up to 500.
  • Poor results: the account moves to the quarantine group.

Once your account is over 16 days old and has sent 500 emails, it joins a high, medium or low risk group based on your results. See How to improve the deliverability of my emails (advanced tips) for how the groups work.

2. A pause after importing contacts

Sending may pause after you import a list, so the list can be checked:

  • Where the contacts came from and how you got them.
  • The quality of the email addresses.
  • The health of the domain you send from.

Moving a large list from another tool all at once can harm deliverability. This check helps you start on a healthy footing.

Bought lists, lists collected from the internet and lists without clear permission are strictly not allowed.

3. Words which look like spam

If an email contains words or phrases which may be seen as spam, sending can be put on hold while the team checks the content. If it is fine, sending resumes. If not, the email is blocked and you are told why.

4. A high volume of emails

After sending many newsletters, sending may pause for a quick automatic check of a few minutes. It then continues by itself.
