How to send or schedule a newsletter
Newsletters
A newsletter is a one-time email to your list, such as a monthly tip on summer bedtimes or news about your next workshop. Here is how to send or schedule one.
You will need contacts with at least one tag. See How to create a tag.
Create your newsletter
- Go to Emails, then Newsletters, and click Create.
- Fill in the subject, sender name and sender email address.
- Choose your editor:
- Classic editor: for simple text emails.
- Visual editor: for more style and layout options.
Classic editor: write your email with the usual text tools.
Visual editor: drag in buttons, images and text, and lay them out with sections and columns. Click any element to change its settings, such as font size, background color, content background color and link color. You can change the width of your email, and click the mobile icon to preview and adjust the mobile version.
To show an element on desktop only, mobile only or both, click it and tick Desktop, Mobile or both. A label on the element shows where it appears.
Two special fonts are available in both editors: Mailbox default (the parent's own email app font) and Adaptive (the best system font on the parent's device).
Save your changes, then click Exit.
Choose who receives it
In the Email settings section you can:
- Add an attachment. It shows as a link at the bottom of the email.
- Only send to contacts who joined at least a certain number of days ago, for example a week.
- Include contacts by tag, for example Newsletter.
- Exclude contacts by tag, for example Current client.
Personalize it
Use variables to add details such as the parent's first name. They are filled in automatically when the email sends. To make a variable a clickable link, select the text, click the link icon and paste the variable in the URL field.
Send it
- Save and test: save and receive a test copy. Confirm your test address first, see How to confirm your email sender address.
- Save and send: send straight away.
- Save and schedule: pick a date and time.
- Save draft: save for later.
- Create an A/B test: test two versions. See How to set up an A/B test for your newsletters.
- Exit: leave the newsletter.
