Is it possible to use a personal email address to send emails from SleepPRO™?
Emails
Sending your newsletter from a Gmail or Yahoo address is no longer possible, and other free addresses cause problems too. Here is why, and what to use instead.
Why free addresses are restricted
Since early 2024, Google and Yahoo have tightened their rules to fight spam, fake senders and fraud. Free email addresses used to send through other software, such as SleepPRO™, can now be blocked, sent to spam or rejected.
Allowed, but not recommended
These Microsoft addresses still work technically:
- Outlook.com and Outlook.fr
- Hotmail.com and Hotmail.fr
- Live.com and Live.fr
They often cause deliverability problems, so parents may never see your emails. We strongly advise against them.
Not allowed
- Gmail: since July 16, 2024, you cannot send to your list from an @gmail.com address. Google's 2024 rules treat senders of more than 5,000 emails a day as bulk senders, with a higher risk of rejection and spam filtering.
- Yahoo: Yahoo's strict DMARC policy rejects emails from @yahoo.com addresses sent through other servers. They never arrive.
- LaPoste: laposte.net addresses may be blocked automatically.
- Zoho Mail: its DMARC policy blocks use through other services.
- ProtonMail: emails from @protonmail.com sent through other services may go straight to spam.
What to use: a professional address
Use an address on your own domain, such as hello@yoursleepbusiness.com. It:
- Makes your business look professional and trustworthy to parents.
- Helps your emails reach inboxes.
- Meets the rules of the big email providers.
Authenticate your domain so email providers know you are allowed to send from it. See How to authenticate your domain name for email sending.
Automatic address for system emails
If you have no valid professional sender address yet, your transactional emails (automatic system emails such as login details) are sent from an automatically generated address. A Reply-To field is added, so replies from parents still reach your own address. This only applies to transactional emails, runs in the background and does not show in your dashboard.
